Tips for safe dating to put a woman’s mind at rest
April 28th, 2008
Dating is a pleasurable way of getting acquainted with a person of the opposite sex and if desired transform it into a more serious relationship. However, there is an inherent danger that lurks around in the ritual of dating. If you were to spend the entire evening anxious about your safety, your dating experience would turn out to be a damp squid. There are several tips for safe dating for women, which if adhered to could lead to a worry free evening and an enjoyable one too.
Safe Dating Tip #1: look into his past behaviour
If any of your friends have dated this guy, get some information from them. What was he like as a partner? What was the reason behind their break-up? Ask particularly if he was ever abusive to them in any way. If the answer is yes, forget this guy. The best indicator of future behaviour is past behaviour.
Safe Dating Tip #2: meet in a public place for a first date
When you’re meeting someone for the first time, set up a meeting in a public place like a bar, a restaurant, or a theatre. While you’re together, observe his behaviour. Does he consider you an equal partner or more like an arm decoration? Does he pay attention to what you have to say and take your input into account? Beware the control freak who wants to be in charge of the entire date.
Safe Dating Tip #3: test him with the word ‘No’
Try saying “no” to something he proposes and observe his reaction. Does he disregard you? Does he try to talk you into what you don’t want to do? Or does he agree to your answer? A man who refuses to hear the word “no” in a minor context may take no notice of it in a more important situation as well.
Safe Dating Tip #4: watch your drink
Rohypnol (Roofies), also known as the date rape drug, is rather inexpensive, colourless, odourless, and can be easily sneaked into a woman’s drink. A woman who ingests Rohypnol will behave as if she is very inebriated. Later, the woman will not recall most of what happened to her. To keep yourself from becoming a victim of Rohypnol, keep an eye on your drink. If you have to leave your drink unattended (e.g., while you get up to dance or go to the washroom), don’t drink from the glass you left behind. Call for a fresh one instead.
Safe Dating Tip #5: go along with your feminine intuition
Analyse your feelings after the date especially with respect to the man that you were with. How did he behave towards you? Was his company enjoyable or was there something that was disquieting about him? Did you feel safe in his company or was some worry playing at the back of your mind? Are you really looking forward to his companionship in the future too or you can do without it? These are vital questions that will enable you to come to a decision whether you should move ahead with the relationship or end it right there.
